Submissions

Beehive Romance is a traditional publishing house. We pay our author partners publication advances and competitive royalty rates. We handle all submissions with the same care the authors put into writing them. Beehive Romance will never use generative artificial intelligence to evaluate the manuscripts sent to us, or to edit, publish, and market the books we acquire.

What we’re looking for

Beehive Romance only publishes sweet romance novels with LDS characters. If your story has a love story for Latter-Day Saint characters and a happy ending, we want to read it! Manuscripts should be complete and in the best shape you can get them. We do not accept novels that have been previously published in any form.

Genres we’d love to see:

  • Contemporary romance
  • Romantic comedy
  • Historical romance (any time period from 1830 through 2000)
  • We’re open to select books in more specific romance categories, such as YA or genre-blending. If you’re not sure whether your manuscript fits our niche, send it and give us a chance to consider it.

What we’re NOT looking for

  • Short stories, anthologies, or story collections
  • Nonfiction, poetry, screenplays, children’s books, or any genre other than sweet romantic fiction
  • Apocalypse fiction or anything with speculative theology
  • Memoirs or biographies. Love stories inspired by real events are welcome, but the characters must be fictional.
  • Spicy romance. Kisses only, please.
  • Proposals for unfinished manuscripts
  • Previously published books
  • Anything AI-generated or AI-assisted. Readers value authentic emotion and humanity. Beehive Romance does not publish AI-influenced work or use artificial intelligence in any of our book covers or marketing, and our author contract requires accepted manuscripts to hold the same standard.
  • Stories that lack authenticity. Beehive Romance books should reflect our primarily-LDS readers’ lived experiences. We welcome stories set anywhere in the world and in any time period after 1830, but the author should have a personal connection to the story’s worldbuilding. Historical settings should be well researched.

Submission guidelines

To submit your manuscript for consideration, send a one-page query letter to hello@beehiveromance.com. Include the word QUERY in the email’s subject line. Below the query letter, paste the manuscript’s first chapter into the body of the same email. Do not include attachments. If we’re interested in seeing more we’ll reply to request the full manuscript. All queries will receive a response. Expect to hear from us within 10 weeks.

Address your query letter to Brooke Losee. Be sure to include the book’s genre and word count, as well as some information about your writing or publishing experience.

Please do not pitch manuscripts to us through social media, phone calls, or postal mail. Queries sent through any method other than email will not be considered.

(New to querying? Check out the query letter examples shared by literary agent Eric Smith.)
